case study 3
the third diamond: turn ideas into action

A famous Italian fashion photographer set up a "creative incubator" in order to
- a) develop young, talented individuals' creative capabilities, and
- b) to provide very specialised creative services to the fashion and media worlds.
The students of the institute are immersed in a highly creative environment where they are developed by a team of professionals from the fashion, media and art worlds while at the same time set to work on real projects for prestigious clients.
The issue they faced was that while their divergent thinking skills were well-developed, which meant they performed well at the idea-generating stage, their performance would deteriorate when it came to defining, assigning, carrying out and co-ordinating tasks, i.e. during the implementation stage of the process.
In their case the process was the same, but the starting point was different: they would start from the idea they had already generated and chosen and use the 3 diamond process to work on how to implement their idea.
